My Story
My first career was in show business. I trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London and for a number of years I worked in theatres as a stage manager and as a producer of corporate films. I relocated to the United States in the early 90s where I rekindled my childhood passion for sport. I qualified as a personal trainer and sports coach. This was at a time when personal training was a novelty in the UK so I brought my knowledge and skills back home and, along with a couple of other business women, started a personal training academy. From that, I developed an interest in the psychology of personal development and decided to qualify as a psychologist.
I think our brains hold the key to our behaviour – good and bad – which is why I’m passionate about helping people to understand the ways in which it affects their performance at work. Everything I do now is focused on workplace wellbeing. My experience over the years has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to educate and empower others to be more productive, more satisfied and happier at work.
My TEDx talk ‘The Psychology of Communicating Effectively in a Digital World’ is available on YouTube. I host the WorkHappy podcast which is available – free – on podcast streaming services.
I also invest time in my own mental and physical health. Exercise and physical challenges play a big part in that. I completed the Saharan Ultra Marathon 2019 – back to back marathons on consecutive days. To start the 2023 Ultra Challenge season I walked 50km around Winsdor and the Thames path. A month later I completed the London to Brighton Ultra Challenge.
